Hot Tubs

What is a safe temperature range & soaking time for enjoying my hot tub?

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends keeping your hot tub below 104°F. Some medical authorities recommend a lower maximum water temperature of 100-102°F. Water temperatures over 110°F have caused a number of deaths. Drowsiness can lead to unconsciousness and drowning. Excessive temperatures will raise body temperature and blood pressure, which can lead to heat stroke and heart attack. It is recommended that you use your hot tub for no more than 15 minutes at a time, and that you take breaks to let your body cool off.

I think my hot tub is on the fritz. Is there something I can do myself before calling for service?

  1. Check your breaker-Your tub should be on a GCFI breaker, which is made to stop abnormal fluctuations in electricity. Try hitting the reset button. Check if your breaker is in the trip position. If it is set in the middle, turn it to off and then back on again. If your breaker keeps tripping, there may be electrical or mechanical issues that a technician will have to fix.
  2. Clean your filters-If your filters are too dirty, the reduced flow of the water can cause your hot tub to not to heat as well as other issues. Take your filters out and spray them down with a water hose between the pleats from top to bottom. DO NOT use a pressure washer as this can damage the filter. We also carry GLB filter cleanse, a productspecially designed to remove the build up on your filters.
  3. CALL US! If checking the breaker and cleaning your filters doesn’t do the trick, give us a call. We service many brands of tubs and have many parts in stock. We can diagnose the problem as well as perform any needed repairs.
